I view both life and the process of creating art as exciting adventures that are meant to be enjoyed, explored, and expanded. My focus is always on the journey itself, as that’s where my boundless curiosity truly thrives. I am solidly driven by the magic of materializing an idea and delight in the interaction with tools and materials. Along the way, I’ve learned—or probably more accurately, I’m still learning—about the importance of seeing projects through to completion and savoring the rewards of a finished piece.

Originally from Montevideo, Uruguay, I moved to the United States at 17 to finish high school, and the independence thrilled me, so I cobbled ways to stay and continue my education. Eventually, I found my way to Portland, Oregon, where I completed a master's in Art therapy, a discipline that beautifully blends creativity and self-discovery. I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and its unique charm. I’ve happily called this quirky city home since 1997.

“Creative explorer” resonates more with me than “artist” as a label for myself. I am inspired by color and texture, layering, adding and subtracting. Although the focus of my work are abstract paintings and illustrations of characters I call Personitas, I savor learning, experimenting, and discovering with all sorts of media and imaginative projects. My mindset as a creative explorer helps me to view obstacles and challenges with resourcefulness, creativity and a sense of possibility. This practice builds confidence in my ability to navigate and transcend every situation I encounter. When I am able to tap into my creative flow, I find new ways to solve life puzzles and to get closer to being able to say “yes” to what is. This mindset also keeps me connected to myself, allowing me to express my thoughts,  feelings and experiences more fully. I believe that embracing our creative side not only helps us thrive but also makes the journey a lot more enjoyable!

Liminal is my most recent collection of abstract work. Through the process of creating these pieces, I explore the idea of liminality —that quality of ambiguity and disorientation that occurs in the middle of a rite of passage or transition. The result of this exploration is a body of work that is complex, bold, and dynamic. Some of the pieces are comprised of 3-9 modules; the viewer is invited to physically interact with the pieces by rearranging them on the gallery wall, and to engage with them by connecting with transformative nature of those transitional moments in their own lives.
